‘Freedom’ rings rather hollow

I agree with that critic review of the freedom writers. I thought that everything in the movie was way overdone. I don’t understand how the first time teacher could suddenly morph into someone the kids could respect and count on to be there for them. I also wonder about why the movie didn’t show any of her other classes. I also agree with the critic that the students were great actors and they should have focused more on them.

I think there are a couple themes to the freedom writers. One of the themes is to not worry about the color of your skin. In the beginning of the movie a lot of the students hated each other just because of their ethnicity. Another important theme is that you can do almost anything you put your mind to. In the movie both ms Gruwell and the students do things that no one believed they could. In some cases the students did things even they didn’t think they could do

There are many instances of symbolism in the Freedom Writers. One symbolism came in the beginning of the movie when Ms Gruwell wore the pearl necklace even though Margaret Campbell told her she shouldn’t. That symbolized that she wasn’t afraid of the kids and what they would do. Another example of symbolism is the trial. The trial symbolizes change and is also a major turning point in the film. More than ever the kids bond and hang out with each other.

I think that the tone of the film was change. I think throught the movie people were finding out who they really were. Eva figured out that she could tell the truth and be good and not just another gang member. I think that all the students should be true to who they really are and they can be better.
